Cheesy number one: it’s sung by a popular ABS-CBN talent. Cheesy number two: it’s a song for a popular toothpaste brand. But those two reasons doesn’t prevent me from liking Sam Milby’s “Close To You.” Even my older sister likes it.

It’s one of those really mainstream songs that’s just enjoyable to listen. It doesn’t matter if it’s shallow or cliché, or if the song’s subject is done to death a million times before. If it’s a good listen, it doesn’t matter if it’s popular. And cheesy.

(By the way, liking a song and not liking the fact that it’s getting too popular are two completely different things. Aight?)
