Google Maps/Earth Updated Coverage 2

9:55 pm PHT

Google has updated their data for Google Earth and Google Maps last February 28. In terms of Philippine content, I only see just a few more areas with high-resolution satellite imagery care of Digital Globe. Below is my updated hi-res coverage map. (See the previous version.) The blue spots show areas with added hi-res imagery. The red spots indicate places with already existing hi-res coverage.

There’s nothing significant added. We basically have a spot in southwestern Isabela, even more of the Bondoc Peninsula (what’s there anyway?), a spot in southern Camarines Sur, and some of northwestern Albay. Still no Panay or Bohol.

The problem I have is that I have no idea of any if the areas that already have hi-res imagery have new images. It’s hard to do a before-and-after comparison. Also, I’m not sure if any of these updated areas were already updated before in December 2006 because I didn’t check that time.

But anyway, enjoy!

Hmm… as best as I can tell, the new high-res spots are Alicia in Isabela, San Narciso in Quezon, Iriga City in Camarines Sur, and Tabaco City in Albay.
