let me give it a try.

this is a night shot hence the shutter speed is slowed down a bit to let more ambient light into the image being captured. can it be that the camera was moved a bit while the pic was taken hance the light streaks?

The camera was definitely moved, not a bit, but a lot, hence the long streaks. But, how come the people, chairs and tables aren’t blurred, only the lights? =)

i mean, yung night mode na may flash na naka slow synchro. exposes for the background, then flashes para ma expose yung tao sa harap. slow exposure to, so you would have time to move the cam, pero ma eexpose lang properly yung mga tao at the instant the flash flashes :p

(wala na kasi ako P&S na cam hehe, di ko maverify)

Very close enough. =) Actually, the flash comes first before the slow exposure for the background. I also discovered that ordering by accident.

I wanted to take a no-flash picture of the dining scene. Eh di ko napansin na naka-slow-synchro mode pala siya. So nung nag-shoot ako, nag-flash siya, so I jerked the camera away kahit useless na. That’s how I got the effect. =)
