Unintelligibly Going Down

11:05 pm PHT

I first encountered Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” via this blog post sometime early this year. The post linked to this parody video (warning: NSFW) poking fun at the unintelligible lyrics of the song.

I found the video quite funny, but unfortunately, I couldn’t take the song seriously anymore. Lately, Jam 88.3 has been playing the acoustic version of the song and I was reminded of the video again. Even the DJs and listeners are wondering what the lyrics were really saying (the vocalist mumbles the song in both the alternative and the acoustic versions!). That’s too bad because the song is quite nice, musically.

Incidentally, their lead vocalist, Patrick Stump, did an acoustic cover of Ne-Yo’s “So Sick.” The cover is also in Jam’s playlist and is really good, even landing a spot on that radio station’s weekly charts. Jam very rarely plays Hip-hop and R&B songs, so I guess this acoustic cover is a compromise for playing the original Billboard #1 single. =P
